Project Reveal - Farmhouse in the Valley!
Hi Home Lovers!
I’ve been very privileged over the last few years to work with Pauline and John on their major home transformation in Helena Valley, Perth foothills. We took an early 2000’s project home built with little character, dark spaces, poor planning and now very outdated style and created a beautiful English Country inspired home full of gentle colour, natural materials, sunlight and a new layout that functions and flows with ease.
Enjoy this brief home tour and more project images, before and after pics and floorplans can be found in the Portfolio (click on this link).

KITCHEN

The kitchen was very much inspired by the simplicity of English country kitchens with the large overscale rangehood cabinet, simple recessed shaker doors without too much detail and a combination of vintage brass and nickle metals. The green used for the island counter is Pauline’s favourite shade with minty tones and runs through the decor of the home.

This modern version of English country is fresh with clean lines and perfect for the Australian context. There’s not as much frills and mouldings as the Hamptons style and has more of a collected feel so easy to mix metals and colours. In true English style the textiles are designed as an integrated part of the kitchen.

The country pantry is my favourite space, choc full of so many gorgeous details. The gallery rails on the shelving, along with the vintage brass handles were imported from the UK giving a very unique and authentic feel. The contrast of the oak french door against the white panelling draws your attention to this focal space.
DESIGN TIP: HOW TO ACHIEVE AUTHENTIC FARMHOUSE.
To achieve a genuine farmhouse feel in your kitchen, that expresses your love of cooking and entertaining around the dining table - express yourself through styling.
Avoid the look of clutter and treat your styling spaces like a mini project. Work out a colour palette, a range of textures and materials, a variety of sizes. To break up alot of “objects” include kitchen art and your favourite cookbooks.
Aim for authenticity - include things you use often so they’re in easy reach and vintage pieces with your own stories attached - AND HAVE FUN!
ENSUITE

Pauline’s unique HOME-STYLE is soft and elegant, so we designed the Ensuite to be a classic, serene space with just the right amount of texture to bounce the light. The layout accommodates Pauline and John as they mature with accessible design. Be sure to see the before and after pics and floorplans on the PORTFOLIO page to see just how much this space was completely transformed!.

LAUNDRY

The Laundry design maximises storage and ease of accessibility with raised WM and dryer, in a beautiful and streamlined space. The palette of materials flows harmoniously from the Kitchen and Ensuite tieing the home together from one end to the other. As in the Ensuite, the selection of gloss slightly rippled wall tiles bounces the light and creates a very natural, organic feel to these spaces.

Beautiful rooms like these are designed with a lot of passion to achieve our client’s dream homes. We know we’re not just designing physical man-made structures to sit idle. Kitchens, Ensuites and Laundries are hard working spaces that get used every day and how we design them impacts our client’s sense of peace. We are confident our home transformation will bring Pauline and John alot of joy in the years ahead with family and friends.
